Sign and return your replanting permit application ASAP!

 

Neighbors who want trees replanted: 

It's time to get your replanting permit applications filled out and signed! 

This one-page form is your official sign-up to be included in replanting this year. The Replant Minnehaha Trees project will collect the signed permit applications and submit them as a group to the City Forestry department.

How to fill out the permit:

1) Download form from this link OR pick up a hard copy application from Ginkgo Coffehouse. 

2) Fill in address where stump(s) are located and name and contact info for the property owner.

3) Leave Tree Contractor, St. Paul License Number and contractor's contact info blank for now. We will fill this in for you when we know whether we get the Tree Trust grant!

4) Type of Tree Permit Requested: Check "Planting" and "Other" and write "stump grinding" on the line next to "Other."

5) Location of trees: describe which side of your house the stump(s) are on and number of stumps to be replaced.

6) Describe proposed tree work: Say "grind stump of tree removed due to emerald ash borer, replant with a new tree." If you have a preference of tree species, list it, or say "no preference for tree species."

7) Sign under Applicant Signature and leave everything below that BLANK

8) Email signed permit application to hamlineearthkeepers@gmail.com or drop off the hard copy at Ginkgo Coffeehouse.

Exciting news: Tree Trust has confirmed that the Replant Minnehaha Trees project is a recipient of their "Green Futures" replanting grant!   This means Tree Trust will provide trees, tools, and planting expertise to get trees in the ground along Minnehaha Ave and surrounding streets this fall! The replanting date has been set for October 16, 1-4 p.m. Please save the date and plan to come out to Minnehaha Ave that afternoon -- we hope to see lots of neighborhood folks out to help replant and celebrate!   Replant Minnehaha Trees continues to collect replanting permit applications and work on stump removal for the blocks whose homeowners have all signed up for replanting. So far 46 stumps have been removed. The final date to submit a replanting permit application is October 1. Tree Trust staff and the City Forestry Department are working to purchase a mix of trees to replant that will ensure a healthy, biodiverse tree canopy, and identify locations for 50+ trees to be replan

Replanting Grant Application Submitted to Tree Trust

Progress update! You are invited! Replanting Launch Party - July 15 at Hamline Church

You are invited!   A launch party for the Replant Minnehaha Trees project is planned for Thursday, July 15, 3:00-6:30 p.m. , with programming to start at 4:00.   The event will take place on the east side of Hamline Church, 1514 Englewood Ave.   It will include Russ Stark, St. Paul’s Chief Resiliency Officer, and representatives from the City’s forestry department to discuss types of trees available for replanting and the city’s plans for regrowing and expanding St. Paul’s tree cover.    Neighbors with trees to be replanted can sign up at the event and complete their permit application for replanting.   But all are invited and encouraged to attend, whether or not you have a tree to replant – a strong neighborhood show-out for this event will send a message to the City that Hamline Midway cares about regrowing Minnehaha Ave as soon as possible!
